The Need

Canada’s healthcare system is facing a growing shortage of Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) across multiple disciplines. This shortage is creating significant challenges in delivering timely and effective care nationwide.

At the same time, IEMRTs bring valuable skills and experience but often face barriers when transitioning into Canadian practice, including credential recognition challenges, limited access to relevant experience, and unfamiliarity with the healthcare system.

How the NEBP Began

Recognizing both the workforce need and the untapped potential of internationally educated professionals, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists identified an opportunity to strengthen pathways into the Canadian MRT workforce.

Through funding from Employment and Social Development Canada’s Foreign Credential Recognition Program, CAMRT launched the National Experiential Bridging Program (NEBP), a national initiative designed to support IEMRTs as they transition into the Canadian MRT workforce.
