Program Overview
BRIDGING GLOBAL EXPERTISE TO CANADIAN MRT PRACTICE
The National Experiential Bridging Program (NEBP) offers Internationally Educated Medical Radiation Technologists (IEMRTs) the tools, resources, and experiential learning needed to navigate certification and successfully transition into Canadian practice. Through mentorship, targeted education, and on-site job shadowing, the program helps participants build confidence, strengthen workplace readiness, and integrate into the Canadian healthcare workforce.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS GAIN:
- Practical insight into Canadian healthcare environments
- Guidance from experienced MRT professionals
- Knowledge of workplace expectations and standards
- Increased confidence for certification and employment
Your Path Starts Here
The NEBP is designed for IEMRTs living in Canada who are eligible to write, or have already passed, the CAMRT certification exam.
Whether you are preparing for certification or stepping into practice, the NEBP offers flexible, optional support to help you navigate the transition with confidence.
Supporting the MRT Pathway
By supporting IEMRTs on their journey into Canadian practice, the program helps strengthen Canada’s healthcare workforce, reduce system pressures, and improve access to quality care throughout the country. The program is structured around three core pillars.
Peer Mentorship
Connects IEMRTs with experienced MRTs in Canada for guidance, support, and insight into workplace culture and professional practice.
Online Learning Micro-Certificate
Provides an online micro-certificate designed to build knowledge in key areas of Canadian MRT practice.
On-Site Observational Job Shadowing
Offers real-world exposure through structured observational experiences in clinical settings across Canada.
The need
Canada’s healthcare system is facing a growing shortage of Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) across multiple disciplines. This shortage is creating significant challenges in delivering timely and effective care nationwide.
At the same time, IEMRTs bring valuable skills and experience but often face barriers when transitioning into Canadian practice, including credential recognition challenges, limited access to relevant experience, and unfamiliarity with the healthcare system.
How the National Experiential Bridging Program began
Recognizing both the workforce need and the untapped potential of internationally educated professionals, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists identified an opportunity to strengthen pathways into the Canadian MRT workforce.
CAMRT launched the National Experiential Bridging Program (NEBP), a national initiative designed to support IEMRTs as they transition into the Canadian MRT workforce. This project is funded by the Government of Canada’s Foreign Credential Recognition Program.
